Thrill Seeker Adventures for all Ages on Harmony of the Seas

What could be more adventurous on a cruise than exploring the biggest cruise ship in the world? Royal Caribbean's newest ship boasts 23 swimming pools, the deepest pool at sea, robot bartenders and a living park in the center of the ship. Everything is either reused, recycled or responsibly incinerated. This is a common practice used on Royal Caribbean ships, something we saw when we were on Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas last October when we were lucky enough to have a ship tour. I was so impressed when I saw how everything was incorporated in their eco-friendly practices. Nothing was thrown away! They had a bin for everything which meant it operates with a “0” waste philosophy -- there is no garbage headed to landfills!

On the Harmony of the Seas there are 6,780 passengers. You have seven neighborhoods with The Royal Promenade being your main hub that connects the ship. This is a great meeting spot for your family or group of friends if you get lost or just want to meet up. Central Park has 12,000 live plants and trees located on deck 8 for the perfect place for some fresh air. The Boardwalk is an outdoor area featuring a classic American diner, a Starbucks Coffee shop, and a handcrafted carousel which takes inspiration from the nostalgic seaside boardwalks of the past.

There is absolutely no shortage on what to do on this ship! You can head to the Ultimate Abyss, the tallest “dry” slide at sea that plunges 10 stories on a cloth sleigh. A trio of wild water slides adds up to the Perfect Storm and children’s waterpark. The water cannons and mega-huge drench bucket at Splashaway Bay will turn any kid into the ultimate aquanaut. There is also FlowRider surf simulator as well as rock climbing, ziplining and Escape the Rubicon, where participants must solve various riddles to escape the entertaining chamber.

As with any cruise food is never a problem. There are Buffets and traditional dining rooms that are excellent choices. There is also Jamie’s Italian and 150 Central Park, a fine dining restaurant. Although specialty dining has a supplemental fee reservations go very quickly on these. I suggest you try one of these during the week as a special treat. Another great one is Wonderland with its imaginative cuisine. There is Teppanyaki dining and my favorite, Chops Grill where you can get dry-aged steaks.

There is never a dull moment as you on-board as you watch Broadway musicals such as Grease to breathtaking high dives at the AquaTheater or spectacular spins at the ice shows and live music at the night clubs for endless dancing the night away. So many options that you never find a dull moment on-board.

This cruise is perfect for honeymooners, anniversaries, romantic vacations and even babymooners who just want to be with each other and still have a lot of things to do on a ship. With romantic accommodations to choose from, indulge in ship activities and wonderful unlimited cuisine and discovering new captivating romantic islands.

For families and family groups with grandma and grandpa what better way to bring everyone together in one place? There are activities for tots, preschool, school age, tweens and teens including:

  • Complimentary Adventure Ocean Youth Program
  • DreamWorks Experience with favorite characters from Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and more
  • Royal Babies & Tots Nursery
